Miso Soup
Miso soup (味噌汁, Miso Shiru) is one of the best known and most popular dishes in Japanese cuisine.
Ingredients and Preparation
Making miso soup is easy and requires only a few basic ingredients:
- Miso paste (red, white or mixed): The base of the soup.
- Dashi : A broth traditionally made from kombu (seaweed) and katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes).
- Tofu : Cubes of soft or medium-firm tofu make a light, protein-rich addition.
- Wakame seaweed : Dried or fresh seaweed that adds texture and nutrients to the soup.
- Spring onions : Finely chopped spring onions give the miso soup a fresh note and round off the taste.
