History of Ramen
Ramen originated in China and was brought to Japan in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At first it was called "Shina-Soba," but the name "Ramen" gradually became more common. After World War II, ramen spread throughout Japan and many regional variants emerged. In 1958, Momofuku Ando of Nissin Foods invented instant ramen, which further increased the popularity of this dish. Today, ramen is a symbol of Japanese cuisine and is popular around the world.
