Joshu Udon are traditional Japanese Udon noodles made from wheat flour, produced according to the noodle tradition of the Joshu region (present-day Gunma Prefecture). The thick noodles are characterized by their pleasantly firm, elastic consistency and mild wheat flavor.

They are excellent for classic udon soups, fried noodle dishes (Yaki Udon), or cold noodle dishes served with dipping sauce. Thanks to their versatile use, Udon are among Japan's most popular noodle varieties.

Cook the noodles in plenty of boiling water for about 10 minutes. Then drain. For cold dishes, rinse with cold water; for hot dishes, serve directly in broth or sauce.
